We all came into this world with unique talents but we might have abandoned them for the responsibilities of daily living. From time to time, remember them with nostalgia now and again. What if we were to breathe life into those gifts again, brushing off the cobwebs and dust of disuse?
Of course, you might be a little bit hesitant because you are uncertain about the ability to use your gift again. Notwithstanding, take the first step to reclaim your power. You don’t have to sing like a nightingale or paint nature’s masterpiece perfectly. Enjoy the satisfaction and contentment that come from using your gift. It’s yours to use. It doesn’t necessarily mean your gift(s) have to be your life’s work. Using your talents might be a means to get away from the craziness of life. A hobby to quiet your spirits or nourish your soul when you are not at your job.
I spent time drawing portraits of loved ones and painting landscapes as a teenager. I remember with fondness notebooks filled with my poems. However, the older I got, the more daily responsibilities ate into the time spent on my talents. So, whenever I came across someone’s poem or artwork, I remember with fondness my creative past. And that was it. I was too busy with life to spend time creating again for fun.
Months back, I started drawing and writing poetry again. Fortunately, I still had the touch. I just needed to find it again. Rediscovering my gifts lifted my spirits, and that was enough. In essence, they are hobbies to ease the rigors of life. Amazingly, I have met like-minded people online who are going through a similar journey. The experience has helped reduce the stress of life. It has helped me live a more meaningful life beyond the dictates of my immediate environment, family, or work.
Please, reclaim your uniqueness. Find those wings and fly again. It might take time, but you can do this – schedule time to devote to your gifts again. Make it a habit, and it becomes a way of life before you know it.
It is time to remember, time to soar.
